Multiple Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) crews from around Dunedin were called to assist at a residential property on fire last night.
A Fenz spokesman said crews from Waitati and Port Chalmers were called to a residential property in Heyward Pt about 6pm after reports of a chimney fire.
When they arrived, they discovered smoke billowing from the eaves of the house, making it possible the fire had spread to the ceiling.
Extra crews from Ravensbourne, Willowbank, Waikouaiti and Dunedin were called to assist.
"At this stage they are still working to extinguish the fire," the spokesman said last night.
