Livestock of all varieties mingled with one another at the annual Strath Taieri A&P Show on Saturday.
Goats on sparkly leads munched grass next to horses in gleaming bridles, while stout-legged Jack Russells slept in the sun to the sound of baaing sheep at the Middlemarch A&P Showgrounds.
Bryce Tisdall, of Macraes, broke through the country sounds with the roar of his homemade ride-on lawn mower.
Mr Tisdall said he had spent about three years creating the vehicle, which started life as a mower.
"The chassis and the seat are off a mower but the back is a bike and so is the engine."
The mower, powered by a 400cc motorbike engine, could reach speeds close to 100kmh, Mr Tisdall said.
The mower was one of several entered in the lawnmower race.
Kayla Wilson (12), of Dunedin, said she enjoyed competing at different A&P Shows in the region on her horse Fleur.
"The best bit of the day is always jumping because we get to compete against others and that is always good fun."
Strath Taieri A&P Show president Lynnore Templeton said about 1500 people attended the show, which was slightly down on previous years.
She believed the "busy weekend" may have prevented some from attending.
The annual spouse-carrying race was the highlight of the show, she said. Spouses carried one another about 80m through water and tyres.
The grand champion ridden horse of the event was Rednalhgih McIntosh, ridden by Annabel Girvan. The grand champion led horse was Trevalda Mountain Storm, led by Tracy Crossan.
