Port Chalmers children are in for the fright of their lives at the Heineman house of horrors.
More than 100 children from the area are expected to show up to local resident Tania Heineman’s house tonight for a night of spookiness.
Mrs Heineman said every Halloween she transformed her home and garden into a scare-fest for the locals.
"The kids like it, and that’s who we do it for," Mrs Heineman said.
The event which started out for her grandchildren now draws in many surrounding trick-or-treaters.
Last year the event bought 175 children who were treated to scares, horror and, of course, lollies.
"Normally we have truckloads of lollies.
"I’m not a scrooge. A couple of kids that come along don’t normally have bags or anything like that, so I always do a goodie bag for them as well."
"A few months ago we wrapped the grandkids up in ... [plastic] wrap then we put Sellotape around them.
"Now we have some nice moulds — one named Charlie and another is Willow.
"We’re going to have them flying around on the clothesline like ghosts."
The garden was transformed into a graveyard stocked with skeletons, and the hallway of her house was blacked out with a smoke machine billowing, and decked out with ghosts, witches, ghouls, clowns and various creepy crawlies.
And perhaps the creepiest of all — a set of twins with glowing red eyes.
