Dunedin City Council acting aquatics manager Chris Bisley said the latest stage of upgrade work focused on the ceiling between the main pool and the leisure pool.
The work was expected to take weeks, but the council would reopen the Rapid River during the school holiday period, he said.
The work at Moana Pool is expected to continue until 2027.
