A local pharmacist is reporting Covid anti-viral packs going out the door as active case numbers climb in the region.

Roslyn Pharmacy owner Andrew Hou said it had distributed 60 anti-viral packs in the past month, which was "easily the most" since the last of the pandemic restrictions were lifted in August, and probably the busiest month in more than a year.

"Most people are recovering fine, but this strain seems to be very contagious," Mr Hou said.

"We’re advising people who are susceptible to make sure they get tested."

Mr Hou said it had recently affected many of his own staff, but all of them had recovered or were "doing OK".

"Certainly many of our older customers have reported being worried of late," he said.

Mr Hou said the last two spikes had been during March, when they sold 40 packs, and last Christmas holiday period, where they sold about 30 packs.

The government removed the last of the Covid restrictions on August 15 — meaning mandatory seven-day isolation and wearing a mask when visiting a healthcare of aged-care facility were no longer required by law.

Mr Hou said people over 30 who had not had their anti-Covid booster shot in six months should apply to get one, while the pharmacy was also offering free rapid antigen tests to anyone who was concerned.

"If you’re vulnerable, and you’re concerned, please get tested," he said.
