Cromwell high school rockers MISTEP are "stoked" to take the stage with international acts next year.

Greenstone Entertainment announced them as the Gibbston Valley support act for its Summer Concert Tour 2025.

MISTEP will be playing with American band Everclear, Australia’s Cold Chisel and Icehouse and Bic Runga of New Zealand.

Art Alexakis, of Everclear, hand-picked MISTEP for the show.

The band’s rhythm guitarist Laura Bates said they "can’t believe it".

"We are stoked and we are shocked."

It is a big step up for MISTEP as last year’s Gibbston Valley concert attracted a crowd of 12,000.

She said their biggest audience so far was 700 at Scott Base Winery, which was a great experience.

MISTEP formed last year for the Smokefreerockquest 2023, and its vocalist, Grace Tiko, won the award for best vocals.

Performing again in 2024, they came third overall.

Most of the group are in their second-last year of school, with their bassist in her last.

Laura said the band was planning to give the Gibbston crowd a mixture of genres in January, with Queen being a go-to.

In the lead-up they have been listening to Cold Chisel and the other bands.

"We knew all of them [musicians] briefly, and we’ve since listened to quite a few of their songs.

"We are hoping to get on their good side and get known and learn some new things."

Tickets are still on sale for the Summer Rock Tour playing in Gibbston Valley on January 18.
