The Brighton Club is looking forward to another cracking day of fishing at its annual competition on Saturday.
Club president Geoff Bright said a ''good number'' of entries were expected for the club's 22nd competition.
Last year, more than 100 people took part in the mainly boat-fishing competition.
Mr Bright said the fishing was good last year and he had heard it was all right now, too.
Festivities would begin in the morning with a breakfast cooked by the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club available from 5am.
Fish had to be in by 4pm. Children's rock-fishing prizes would be awarded at 11am.
The competition was open to the whole family.
If conditions were bad on Saturday, the contest would be held on Sunday, or the following weekend. Club members would fillet the caught fish, which would be auctioned at 5pm. Proceeds would go to local community groups, which last year received about $3500.
In the 22 years since the competition started, the club has raised about $100,000 for the community.
