Practice manager Ker Charitkul said 26 members of Carers New Zealand received free dental care over five hours on Saturday.

The dental work included ‘‘a lot of fillings’’ and tooth extractions.

The annual event was the first time free treatment had been provided for members of Carers New Zealand — a national charitable trust set up to help carers of all ages. Mr Charitkul thanked the seven dentists and seven dental assistants who volunteered their time.

‘‘The dentists do a great job on a daily basis and work really hard, so to give up their time is so special.’’
