In its request for proposals to design and build new hydroslides at the pool, the Dunedin City Council sought plans for two slides, "or preferably more".
Tenders close on Thursday next week.
Community services general manager Simon Pickford said the council was at the early procurement stage.
"We have asked in the tenders for a minimum of two slides and a variety of ride experiences," Mr Pickford said.
A broader upgrade of the facility, including revamping changing rooms and improving pool treatment systems, has been budgeted to cost $21million.
"We have asked the slide providers to consider how they can make the slides as fun and accessible as possible while ensuring the highest standard of safety," Mr Pickford said.
"A lift will be provided to the top of the slides, allowing everyone, including people with physical restrictions, to enjoy them."
Moana Pool opened in 1964 at the site of an old tennis club.
The council’s pitch to potential partners said the redevelopment project would revitalise the facility for the next 50 years, creating a premier destination for aquatics, leisure and competition swimming in the region.
The existing slides, associated splash pool, access tower and plant room would be demolished.
New slides would be constructed next to the existing leisure pool.
The council has said previously the overall project could be completed in 2025.
