Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run which resulted in a woman being taken to hospital in Dunedin.
Senior sergeant Craig Brown said a car departed the scene after colliding with another vehicle in Portsmouth Drive about 8pm yesterday.
The victim was the sole occupant of the car that was hit.
St John South Island region communications adviser Ian Henderson said the woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital with minor injuries.
Snr Sgt Brown said it was unclear how many people were in the car which drove off.
Details of the vehicle were unclear, he said.
''Witnesses came to the aid of the woman and called police and the ambulance service but were only able to get the first few digits of the culprit's number plate.''
Police inquiries were continuing.
