Musicians from around the South Island converged on Dunedin during the weekend for the Dunedin Performing Arts Competitions Society’s (DPACS) 2024 Instrumental Festival at the Otago Boys’ High School auditorium.
The competitions were judged by Roger Brown (formerly of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra) and Sanaz Rezai (formerly of California State University (Fullerton).
About 80 musicians, aged 6 to university age, performed about 200 musical items on instruments including piano, violin, viola, cello, flute, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, trombone, guitar and even a church organ.
Otago Daily Times photographer Linda Robertson captured some of the musicians in action on Saturday.
