The Otago University Debating Society has tasted success once again, with its top team beating some of the world's most prestigious universities at two tournaments in the United States this month.
The team of Alec Dawson and Kieran Bunn followed up success at this year's World Universities Debating Championship in Berlin - where it came fourth - by winning the Colgate IV and placing fifth at the HWS Idea tournament, both held earlier this month.
Some of the top debating universities in United States and Canada competed in the Colgate IV tournament, while the HWS Idea tournament was an invitation-only tournament, made up of finalists in the world championships.
The pair were particularly pleased with their individual placings in the HWS Idea tournament, where Mr Bunn came third and Mr Dawson seventh.vaughan.elder@odt.co.nz
