The 18-year-old says she feels privileged to have the opportunity.
''It's another step closer to becoming a professional dancer,'' she said.
''After I have done my three years of training, I'm hoping to get accepted into a company somewhere.
''This is what I want to do.''
Miss Murray has been performing classical ballet since she was 7 and in recent years her focus has been on becoming a professional dancer.
''When I was about 12 years old, that's when I decided I was going to keep going with it and take it further,'' she said.
''That's when I discovered my real passion for it.''
As part of her studies - which will lead to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance performance - she will travel to Beijing and France.
She looks forward to that aspect of the study as she has never visited either before.
''It's very exciting,'' she said.
Miss Murray leaves for Brisbane in early February and is looking forward to what feels like an adventure.
Her passion for dance and ballet was because of the challenge, she said.
''It's really challenging. It never ends it just keeps going.''
