A man asked a child to enter his car last night in Mosgiel.
The incident occurred at about 6.12pm near Hartstonge Ave and initial reports suggested the car was a blue Toyota.
Police attended and were investigating. No arrests have been made.
A police spokeswoman said it was too early to say if the encounter was linked to any other incidences.
