4WD broken into, set alight

Casting an eye over a four-wheel-drive believed to have been deliberately set alight in Mailer St, Mornington, is Constable Ben Pawson, of Dunedin.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said the black 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe was broken into and the interior set alight on Wednesday night, near Elgin Rd.

Two officers inspected the vehicle for fingerprints yesterday morning, before it was towed away.

The car's interior was badly damaged but the car was not fully engulfed. Inquiries continue.
