A 36-year-old man will appear in court following an armed offenders squad callout to Taieri Mouth on Tuesday night.
Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said the AOS was called to a residential property following reports of a domestic incident.
The AOS was later stood down after the man handed himself in.
He has been charged with assaulting a female.
