Concern grows for missing Karitane woman

Dunedin police have grave concerns for 36-year-old Karitane woman Grace Gardner, who has been missing for nearly two days.

Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said the woman was last seen at 5pm on Sunday and an aerial search of the Karitane coastline on Sunday night and Monday morning failed to find any trace of her.

"We've got serious concerns about her welfare," Snr Sgt Aitken said.

Dunedin Search and Rescue officer in charge Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said the aerial search would continue, while police officers and dogs would search the area on the ground.

No-one else was being investigated in relation to the woman's disappearance, he said.

Marine search and rescue, as well as the coastguard, also searched for the missing woman yesterday.

She was last seen wearing dark coloured trousers and a yellow and green T-shirt, and was described as being a Caucasian of thin build with blonde hair and hazel eyes.
