It is a collaboration between the museum and the Otago Polytechnic.
It was hoped it would attract international interest from overseas buyers, Otago Museum science communicator/special projects Amos Mann said.
The exhibition, set on an imaginary tropical island, is comprised of 16 interactive stations all involving aspects of the human body, such as smell, digestion, and hormones.
One interactive station entitled "Smell the Danger" encouraged people to sniff scents including apple, coconut, vomit and "poo", he said.
Another exhibit featured a clip of a woman sneezing, with added water effects.
The exhibition, part of the museum's Discovery World, is to run for several months.
