Three teenagers were arrested yesterday after an attempted car-jacking in North Dunedin turned into a 90-minute game of hide-and-seek between them and police dogs.
A police spokeswoman said three teens — two 18-year-old men and a 15-year-old boy — were arrested in Waihola following an attempted car-jacking in Gowland St at 1.50pm.
Police were made aware after a member of the public reported the incident and provided the registration plate of the car in which the offenders were travelling.
Officers located the car in Corstorphine later in the afternoon and followed it to Waihola.
Police deployed road spikes which brought the car to a stop.
The three teenagers fled from the car.
Dog units were brought in to track the trio, who were found after about 90 minutes in three separate locations.
The teens were taken into custody and would be facing a range of charges, the spokeswoman said.
