The organisation has been rescuing unwanted food and donations from supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, cafes and other businesses for three years.
Last month it passed the 500,000 meals mark - the number of meals it estimates the 180,000kg of food collected and distributed to frontline charities would have produced.
Manager Pip Wood said the charity was steadily expanding, with more food providers donating goods and more recipient organisations taking it and giving to those in Dunedin who needed it the most.
She said it was ''really, really short of volunteers'' and wanted to hear from people who were able to regularly give a couple of hours during the week, or on a Saturday, to help with collections.
The main focus this year was on gaining more corporate sponsors to help keep the whole operation running.
''We are a social venture run along corporate lines. Our costs are kept to an absolute minimum. Every dollar that comes to us provides three meals.''
