Caversham residents are being warned about a spate of burglaries in the area.
Dunedin police have received six reports of burglaries in Edwin, Josephine and Surrey Sts in the past six weeks.
A South Rd burglary was also reported at the weekend.
Senior Sergeant Bruce Ross said the burglaries all occurred between 5pm and 8.30pm, from Thursday to Saturday.
''People seem to be climbing through windows and accessing unsecured premises. Dunedin police would be grateful for any information on the burglaries, and Caversham residents should be vigilant with security.
''Keep windows and doors locked, and report any suspicious behaviour to police immediately,'' he said.
Perfume, clothes, tramping gear, shoes, iPods, jewellery, rugby boots and a suitcase were reported stolen from an Edwin St home on April 25.
A week later, nail polish, bathroom scales, jewellery, clothing, videos and a video recorder were taken from a Surrey St house.
The following week, a bottle of perfume was taken from an Edwin St home and on May 21 a Josephine St resident reported an attempted burglary.
''Someone tried to open a lounge window. There was a man standing at the window, described as being about six feet tall, of solid build, dark-skinned, and wearing a dark-coloured hoodie with blue writing,'' Snr Sgt Ross said.
On May 27, between 5pm and 6pm, a Surrey St home was burgled after entry was gained by forcing a back door. It was not known whether anything was stolen.
Between 5.30pm and 8.15pm the same night a 42in LCD television was stolen from the Caversham Baptist Church, in Surrey St.
''Someone entered the church, went downstairs and through two sets of doors into an office area, and unscrewed the television from a stand,'' Snr Sgt Ross said.
Anyone seen lurking in the area, or acting suspiciously, should be reported to police, he said.
