Dunedin Police are looking for a man after the armed robbery of a TAB in South Dunedin last night.

Just after 8pm, a man entered the Hillside Rd premises and confronted staff with what was believed to be a firearm.

Two armed police officers were outside the Hillside Rd building last night and the area was cordoned off with emergency tape.

Another officer arrived with a tracker dog and went down Rankeilor St.

Staff working at the TAB at the time of the robbery declined to comment on the incident.

A TAB spokeswoman said the Dunedin area services manager would not be commenting today.

“He's not commenting at this stage as it is just a day after,'' she said.

Police would like to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dunedin Police on 03 471 4800 or they can speak with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
