Ed Sheeran has left the stage for the last time following three triumphant concerts in Dunedin after telling fans he is going to be "sad" to leave the city.
Sheeran got massive cheers as he got on stage, opening again with Castle on the Hill and finishing with an encore that included hits Shape of You and You Need Me, I Don't Need You.
After winning the city's undivided attention with three concerts spread over four days, Sheeran told fans how much he had enjoyed himself.
"These last 18 shows in Australasia have been then most fun that I've had," he told fans just before the concert came to an end.
He earlier told his adoring fans: "I'm going to be really sad to be leaving Dunedin.
"We've had such a good time here."
Later he encouraged "weird" dancing.
"If you feel like dancing like a complete weirdo I encourage it.
"Dunedin, shall we get a little bit weird?"
Earlier vibrant swarms were lining Dunedin's footpaths and packing the stadium to bask in the final night of Ed mania.
Promoters say about 35,000 tickets were sold for the final show tonight.
From the Octagon to the venue, trails of people are made the pilgrimage.
Emily Robinson (14), of Tuturau, said she was very excited for the show.
"We've got all the albums."
She liked the musician ever since he became famous, she said.
When he walked on stage she would "probably screech a little bit", she said.
Juliet Whitham, of Auckland, said her family came together from all parts of the country to attend the Dunedin show.
"It's so nice to be able to come here as a family and especially to take Mum.
"We're really excited."
Entertainers were scattered throughout the trail to the concert.
Dunedin girls Alex Maffey (12) and Makayla Houpapa (11) were raking it in, busking in two-part harmony.
Makayla said yesterday the two made $200 from the people walking by.
She loved the singer and was pumped to go to tonight's show once she finished busking.
