A man who allegedly threw a flare during a Sydney soccer match will appear in court along with a man accused of kicking him in the ensuing brawl.
The man was knocked out and a six-year-old boy was hit in the head by a rock during the brawl at Campbelltown stadium on Tuesday night at the pre-season match between A-league club Sydney FC and Macarthur Rams.
Police say witnesses have told them a 31-year-old man hurled a flare into a group of people at the match, sparking a brawl in which he was allegedly kicked in the head by a 24-year-old man.
The 31-year-old was charged on Wednesday with a number of offences including using a distress signal without authority and offensive behaviour in a public place.
He will appear at Campbelltown Local Court on September 26.
On Thursday the 24-year-old man was issued with a notice to appear in court for affray on October 17.
