Three people have been helped to safety after getting lost on a North Taieri walking track yesterday.
Police received a report at 7pm that the group had become lost and disorientated on Chalkies Track, near Whare Flat.
A spokeswoman last night said search and rescue had the group's coordinates and had advised them to remain where they were.
In an update this afternoon a police spokesman said the trio were located today and assisted out of the area by search and rescue teams.
"The trio did the right thing by raising the alarm when they did and staying put, and they looked after each other while rescuers were making their way to them," the spokesman said.
