Former Minister of Health, Pete Hodgson, is chairman of Southern Partnership Group, which is overseeing the Dunedin hospital rebuild. 

What was the best birthday present you ever received, and why?

A mountain bike on my 60th birthday. It has kept me fit ever since.

What smell do you find irresistible?

Fresh scallops. Or paua.

What is your least favourite thing about humanity?

Intolerance. I can’t tolerate it.

Red. I guess I’m impatient.
