Four Otago restaurants have been named finalists in the prestigious Cuisine New Zealand Restaurant of the Year Awards 2009.
Previous finalists Amisfield Winery Restaurant, in Queenstown, Saffron, in Arrowtown, Plato, in Dunedin, and newcomer Botswana Butchery, in Queenstown, are among the 39 finalists, picked for their excellent food, well-chosen wine lists and knowledgeable and professional staff.
Now in their fifth year, the Cuisine NZ Restaurant of the Year Awards are the only national restaurant awards in this country, celebrating the best dining experiences whether they are found in the big cities, in the countryside or up the road at the local restaurant.
Try a new touch of India
If you like curry pastes and simmer sauces, you might like to try the new Tandoori Palace sauces, developed by the chefs from the restaurant chain and made by Barkers in Geraldine.
They include all the Western favourites - butter chicken, korma, vindaloo, rogan josh, tikka masala and tandoori paste. Just add meat or vegetables, heat and serve. Available at most supermarkets.
