The 17-year-old loves to cook, and frequently experiments with ingredients in the kitchen.
He tried pig's brain at a friend's Fear Factor-style birthday party, thinking it may make an interesting dish for a family dinner, but the first mouthful convinced him otherwise.
"It had an interesting texture - kind of grainy.
I'm fairly experimental when it comes to eating, but this was definitely not one meal I would try again."
At school, Peter is an all-round academic achiever, having won school excellence awards in science, accounting, chemistry and physics.
Last year he gained NCEA Level 2 with excellence.
He was first in maths and received a school academic excellence award for being the top Year 12 pupil.
He is a respected leader within extra-curricular activities at school, from sport to cultural events to outdoor education.
Peter plans to study commerce, maths, physics and chemistry at the University of Otago next year, but is still perfecting his recipe for a career.
He hopes to combine his love of cooking with a desire to be his own boss and run his own restaurant.
