My Vision for Dunedin from Pamela Taylor

    By 2050 I would like Dunedin to become a resort city. With people from all over the country and many parts of the world travelling to Dunedin for its tourism activities, let Dunedin become your playground. Whether you're exploring trails, boating, shopping, indulging in food and wine, there is fun and adventures to be found here.  

    Dunedin Harbourside 
    I would like Dunedin Harbourside to have carparks, shopping and dining area with an inflatable water obstacle course. I’d like public transport to include jet boats across the Otago Peninsula. I would like a boat ride from Dunedin Harbourside over to an Otago Peninsula Farm Experience.

    Signal Hill 
    I’d like to take a scenic ride in a wheelchair-friendly gondola and take in the stunning views of the Otago Peninsula as I ride the cable car lift from Dunedin Harbourside up to Signal Hill to then dine and wine at a restaurant at the top. I’d like to race my children in Luge carts down Signal Hill around banked corners, tunnels and dippers. I would like to race my children down an octopus racing slide near Signal Hill. I would like to travel down Signal Hill on world-class MTB trails of vertical descent, that Dunedin's new Bike Park will easily be one of the best places to ride a mountainbike in the world. I believe we should add a treetop flying fox there also. 

    Woodhaugh Gardens 
    I’d like the Woodhaugh Gardens to include orchards, herbs and vegetable gardens, and an animal petting area.

    Flagstaff Mountain 

    At the top of Flagstaff we should contrast a large glass shelter with picnic tables inside, BBQ area, toilets, and drinking water. We should create motorbike trails over Flagstaff, so we can ride from Mount Cargill to Mosgiel. 

    Mosgiel-Port Chalmers Trains
    Two trains, Mosgiel-Port Chalmers, on two tracks that go back and forth throughout the day stopping along the way at different stations.

    Carpark Buildings 
    We will require carpark building to be located near the Mosgiel train station, Dunedin Train Station, University, Hospital, Octagon, Port Chalmers, and South Dunedin.  

    South Dunedin
    For South Dunedin to have multi-level motels and apartment buildings. 

    The Beach
    A wheelchair-friendly footpath from St Clair beach to St Kilda beach along the beachfront below the sand dunes. For there to be chairs set up along the footpath so people can rest, drinking fountains and BBQ areas. For a toilet to be added to Middle Beach. Marlow Park whale to blow bubbles out of the top of it. 

    Taiaroa Head Bridge

    • A bridge between Aramoana to Taiaroa Heads for cars, bikes and foot traffic which boats can still go under. 
    • A tunnel network 
    • A road tunnel network so people can travel quickly and avoid going over hills and mountains but can drive under them instead. A 100km under the State Highway between Waitati and Mosgiel, as well as other road tunnels in Central Dunedin. 

    Dunedin Central Bus Hub
    I would like the Dunedin Bus Hub to have a warm, comfortable Transit Lounge Cafe.
