Rogers clearly revels in the chance to release his inner soul-man, having comprehensively explored folk and country-rock sounds with previous backing bands the Temperance Union and the Twin Set.
He gives his all to match the band's punchy delivery but enthusiasm can't make up for vocal limitations, and Rogers' straining tonsils underdeliver on too many tracks.
