Motorists negotiate the new roundabout at the intersection of Main South Rd and Westland St in Green Island.

Dunedin City Council senior transport engineer Susil Gunathilake said the outer ring of the roundabout had been completed.

Work on the $2million project was running on schedule and the Westland St and Abbotsford Rd roundabouts were still expected to be completed by the end of July, Mr Gunathilake said.

Because of landscaping and other issues, the Main South Rd and Brighton Rd one would take slightly longer but was still on schedule to be completed by the end of August, weather permitting, he said.

Work at two of the intersections is being paid for by the NZ Transport Agency and the other is funded by the Dunedin City Council.

Now if the Police were "onto it" ... they'd install cameras at each of the new roundabouts and bag 50% of Dunedin street racers in one weekend ... ;-)

I'm sure our more "switched on" DCC have already approved overtime for noise control officers to be present during the nightime hours, so they can issue noise abatement notices to the "Sub-Woofer" tribe members ... and, of course, reap the rewards of the fines issued.

Maybe plans for the "expensive" model harbour footbridge aren't off the table yet !!

What am I missing?
Why would DCC need noise control officers for a roundabout?
There's nothing in the story linking roundabouts to street racers.
I'm not aware of roundabouts elsewhere in the city being the centre of boy racer/loud music activities.
And what has this got to do with the planned bridge????
Your comments make no sense at all.
