West Harbour Garden Trail organiser Mrs Parsons said so many visitors turned up that more tickets had to be printed. There also would have been a shortage of scones for the Devonshire teas had she not “dashed home to make some more”.
She described the $5044 raised from the tour, plant sales and raffle as “absolutely amazing”. The previous best had been about $3500.
“We were all blown away,” Mrs Parsons said.
Reasonable weather, quality gardens on show and a dearth of indoor activities because of Covid-19 all contributed to the day’s success, she said.
