Enjoying a cuppa and chat with others recently at Taieri Age Connect’s weekly information hub are president Trish Didham (left) and secretary Carolyn Thomas.

The over-50s social group has bounced back after the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic and has a weekly schedule full of activities that take place at the Senior Citizens Hall on Hartstonge Ave, Mosgiel.

Mrs Didham said the group fulfilled a need for seniors to enjoy social interaction and combat loneliness in a warm and welcoming environment.

There was a range of interests to suit many tastes, options including indoor bowls, arts and crafts, card games, a singing group and line dancing.

Tai chi and social exercise programme Steady As You Go, run by Age Concern, also take place at the Senior Citizens Hall.

The not-for-profit group had been able to make improvements to the hall, installing heating and double glazing as well as new carpets and repainting, thanks to grants from the Lotteries Commission, Bendigo Valley Trust and Alexander McMillan Trust, Mrs Didham said.
