Festival director Jerome Cousins said although the NanoFest officially started today, with the help of the New Zealand Centre of Digital Excellence (CODE) about 18 different high-end VR set-ups were installed in the lower level of the mall last weekend as entertainment for people visiting the city for the big game.
Mr Cousins said the international science festival took place every second year and the NanoFest was a "small but mighty" mini science festival in the "off years".
This year, NanoFest highlights include the imagination playground of big blue building blocks, a discussion on understanding Three Waters from a science perspective and a virtual reality artists’ stage where local creatives of all kinds will use VR to create work which will be shown on a 5m by 5m screen.
