New Zealand tennis players Marina Erakovic and Sacha Jones have cruised into the second round of qualifying for the US Open women's draw but Michael Venus fell at the first hurdle for the men's competition.
Erakovic the second seed in qualifying with a current WTA ranking of 90 beat Japan's Yurika Sema 6-3 6-1 in just over an hour.
She will next play Slovenian, Petra Rampre, who has a current ranking of 210.
Jones who has a ranking of 212 easily beat American Alexa Glatch 6-3 6-0 in just 50 minutes to line uop a meeting with China's Jing Jing Lu next.
Venus was beaten in three sets in his first round match by German Andre Begemann 1-6 6-2 6-2.
