The region’s sharpest young players have started school — rugby school that is.

The yearly Highlanders’ schools camp has been running for more than a decade.

It has a proven record of producing Super Rugby players and the next generation had their first day in camp yesterday.

The programme will run for five days and not all the "learnings" will happen out on the paddock.

There is some study to do in the classroom as well for the 46 young men in this year’s intake.

But yesterday’s lessons ended with a run-around at John McGlashan College.

Otago Daily Times photographer Linda Robertson caught some of the action.
