The competition reached the conclusion of the first round last Saturday, although play was severely disrupted by the weather and defaults.
The top six clubs are Wakatipu, Arrowtown, Upper Clutha, Maniototo, Alexandra and Cromwell. The bottom five are Roxburgh, Wakatipu Wanderers, Cromwell B, Clyde-Earnscleugh and Matakanui Combined.
Central Otago council of clubs chairman Lindsay Breen said a draw had been completed and games were set for this Saturday.
But that has not stopped criticism of the draw and the way it has been structured.
Breen acknowledged not everyone was happy about the outcome.
Three meetings before the season started had talked about the structure of the competition, but whether points from the first round would be carried forward was not brought up.
Breen said it was obviously not ideal and teams would have to give an answer by the end of today on whether they wanted to carry the points forward.
Arrowtown president Simon Spark said Arrowtown had voted against the competition structure before it started, the only club to do so, and that was for ''obvious reasons''.
He declined to elaborate on those reasons but said this sort of competition had been tried before in Central Otago and did not work.
It is believed Arrowtown wanted a top six clubs at the start of the season. The competition was expanded this year with senior B teams, such as Roxburgh, joining the competition and no senior B grade. Some games had turned into mismatches.
Wakatipu won the first round, going through unbeaten.
Breen expected teams would want to carry points forward. Teams and not just clubs would get to vote.
Some games were called off last week, while others were played, which affected the points table.
Breen said with a congested calendar it was not possible to have another week to play the final games of the first round.
The table ended up with Upper Clutha and Clyde-Earnscleugh tied on the same number of points although Upper Clutha has yet to play its game against Roxburgh.
Upper Clutha is in the top six, as it won the game between the two teams.
Breen said it was more important to have semifinals and a final than play another round.
The final is set down to be played on August 10 and the countrywide final a week later.
