Taieri and University A will contest the Dunedin premier club rugby final after recording victories in the semifinals at Forsyth Barr Stadium today.
Taieri trailed Southern 21-12 at halftime but scored 13 unanswered second half points to clinch its spot. First five-eighth Josh Casey drilled six penalties and a conversion. His boot proved the difference.
In the second semifinal, Unversity A upset Harbour 35-33. The students led 28-16 at halftime but fell behind midway through the second half. But a late try to centre Matt Faddes helped secured the win.
In the Gainsborough Shield (bottom six), Kaikorai beat Zingari-Richmond 19-17. Alhambra-Union beat Green Island 15-12 and Pirates defaulted to Dunedin.
