It did not take Terry Taylor long to come up with his 25 greatest All Blacks but he admitted he slept on his decision.
Taylor won the Otago Daily Times' 25 Greatest All Blacks competition, correctly picking 22 of the top 25.
He was one clear of six other entrants who picked 21.
Taylor (46), of Dunedin, said he took about 15 minutes to pick his first 25. He then had a night's sleep before looking at it again and making a few changes.
''I thought a few of the old guys would not have a chance as it would be mostly picked by young guys, who would not have heard much of them,'' he said.
Taylor did not include Originals back Billy Wallace, 1950s winger Ron Jarden or first five-eighth Grant Fox.
Instead, he went with lock Andy Haden, No 8 Buck Shelford and outside back Tana Umaga.
Shelford was popular with a lot of entrants but just missed out on the 25 picked by the Otago Daily Times' field of experts.
Taylor, who works as a medical laboratory scientist, has been a lifelong rugby and cricket fan, and said he was very much looking forward to the prize, a Highlanders jersey and two free tickets to all eight Highlanders home games next season.
