Lynn, who played every minute of all 16 games for the franchise this year, along with fullback Ben Smith, said after last Friday night's game against the Blues in Auckland, the season had to be viewed positively for the Highlanders.
"It's been good for us. The main goal of the season was to revitalise the whole franchise and get people back interested in the Highlanders," he said.
"We've won a few games, and though the guys were pretty disappointed with the way it finished you would have to think overall we've done all right."
The side finished eighth after picking up wins in the early part of the season, but losing six of its last seven games.
Lynn though said the side had built a good base for next season.
"We have a really good culture here and guys are really keen to keep on going next year with something we've started."
Lynn had a shortened off-season after surgery last year to fix a long-standing groin problem.
It had obviously gone well, as he had managed to play all 1280 minutes that the Highlanders have played this season.
"I've been lucky enough to play every minute of every game. The body is pretty knackered but I'm rapt to be able to get selected every week. It's a big season, and apart from the last few weeks, which the guys are hurting about, everyone is excited for next year."
Lynn has yet to sign a new deal for next season but he said there were just a few things to iron out and he wanted to be back for the Highlanders next season.
He will now have two weeks off before turning out for Southland in the ITM Cup.
He comes off contract with Southland after this season, and is set to be married early next year.
