King's High School registered its second win in the Otago premier schools competition with a 44-19 win over St Kevin's College on Saturday.
With the Oamaru school boasting a massive pack, King's spun the ball wide at every opportunity, and speedy winger Rory O'Neill scored two tries.
O'Neill was in the news earlier this year, when he broke Peter Montgomery's long standing King's 200m record.
His pace coupled with aggression caused St Kevin's endless problems. Flanker Jack Clement pilfered plenty of ball and also impressed, King's coach Mark Alderton said.
''St Kevin's had some really big forwards but we just backed our skills and played a little bit wider,'' he said.
''Really, it was our fitness which won out in the last 20 minutes.''
St Kevin's coach Justin Fowler accepted his side struggled with the pace King's played the game.
''We just got cut open, really,'' Fowler said.
''They played the game at quite a high pace, spun it wide and executed very well.''
That said, St Kevin's, which trailed 20-12 at halftime, had its moments. Massive prop Paea Palaa scored in the opening few minutes and bashed his way over for another two.
It is the second time this season he has scored three tries in a game.
South Otago High School remains unbeaten after six games. It beat Dunstan High School 33-20 on Saturday.
The other big result was in Oamaru, where a resurgent Waitaki Boys' High School side beat the Otago Boys' High School Second XV 33-14.
John McGlashan College thumped Mt Aspiring College 48-5, and Kavanagh College beat winless Taieri College 32-24.
