The lightning pace of fullback Tony Ensor outwitted the Alhambra-Union defence and gave Kaikorai an early lead that it held for the rest of the game.
Ensor scored Kaikorai's first try after five minutes in the early game at the stadium, and midway through the spell he broke past four tackles at halfway to give winger Dan Hyndman a clear 35m run to the line.
Jack Stewart was a lively halfback with a long pass and a neat kick to the box, and he varied his play effectively. Second five-eighth Cam Rutherford was solid in the midfield, and added a penalty to give Kaikorai a 17-10 lead at the break.
Attacking flair gave Kaikorai the lead and rugged defence protected that advantage in the second half.
The Alhambra-Union forwards attacked aggressively after the break, with No 8 Matt Kissick giving his team a two-to-one advantage in the lineout.
Flanker Graeme Cashmore played aggressively and hooker Ben Pereira looked dangerous with the ball.
But they were met by a solid wall of Kaikorai defenders who flung back the many attacks.
None played better in defence than centre Logan Moore with his accurate tackling.
The Kaikorai forwards were skilled at the counter ruck with the pack going in low to the breakdown. Loose forwards Nathan Hull and Adam Hill had strong games.
Props Jim Stevenson and Blair Laughton made ground with the pick and go and played key roles as part of the Kaikorai tackling machine.
Kaikorai 20 (Tony Ensor, Dan Hyndman tries; Cam Rutherford 2 con, 2 pen), Alhambra-Union 15 (Peter Breen, Tom Dougherty tries; Breen con, pen). Halftime: 17-10.
