The Highlanders are finally victorious.
After a ding-dong battle against the Sharks in Dunedin tonight the Highlanders won 25-22 to bag their first win of the season.
The home side had to withstand some intense pressure at the end but held its defensive line to take the win, and there was plenty of emotion after the final whistle went.
The side showed some real ticker at the end as the Sharks camped on the Highlanders try-line in a bid to get the win but the home side's defence could not be breached.
Best for the home team were halfback Aaron Smith, lock Josh Bekhuis and hooker and skipper Andrew Hore.
At halftime the Sharks led 15-7.
The Highlanders had come out the best, and scored after nine minutes through second five-eighth Shaun Treeby.
But the Sharks quickly replied with a try to the other No 12 on the field, Meyer Bosman. It then skipped clear with a try to speedy winger Lwazi Mvova.
