Georgia will play Scotland in the first of three World Cup games in Dunedin next year.
The Georgians had a convincing 36-8 win over Russia in the Turkish city of Trazbon yesterday morning (NZ time), and with the win qualified as top in the European group.
Georgia, which has appeared at two previous tournaments, will go into pool B for next year's tournament alongside Scotland, England, Argentina and another team yet to be decided.
The Georgians will play Scotland on September 14 in Dunedin.
Although losing heavily to Georgia, Russia has qualified for the tournament for the first time.
The Russians will join the United States, Australia, Ireland and Italy in pool C.
In other games, Romania beat Portugal 20-9 to guarantee third place in the European Nations Cup.
Romania plays Spain next week, and will then enter a drawn-out process to attempt to qualify for the World Cup.
Romania will play either Lithuania or Ukraine for the right to enter the cross-continental play-off against Tunisia.
The winner of that match will then meet Uruguay or the Asian Five Nations runner-up to determine the 20th and last qualifier for the World Cup.
The play-off winner is not expected to be found before November.
England will face the play-off winner in Dunedin on September 24.
Ireland plays Italy in the other match in Dunedin on October 2.
