Rugby: Barnes back to take on Highlanders

The Waratahs have included Wallaby inside back Berrick Barnes in their side to take on the Highlanders on Saturday night.

The Sydney-based side named its team yesterday, with Barnes welcomed back into the No 12 jersey.

Barnes had been hampered by a groin strain picked up in pre-season but has been included in the team, replacing Tom Carter, who moves to the bench. Barnes missed the first two games of the season because of the injury.

Pat McCutcheon comes on to the openside flank to replace Chris Alcock, who also drops down to the reserves.

The Waratahs have plenty of talent in their forward pack, with No 8 Wycliff Palu looking to make an impression after a couple of injury-plagued years, and an all-Wallaby front row.

The Waratahs have played two matches in Australia, for a win and a loss. This will be their first trip across the Tasman this year.

The side will arrive in Dunedin tonight and train at Forsyth Barr Stadium tomorrow morning.

The Highlanders are due to be named tomorrow morning.
