It is not often Ethan de Groot is the smaller man in the picture.

The giant Highlanders prop met his match at the weekend when the All Blacks entertained a special guest at their hotel.

Jason Momoa, best known for starring as Khal Drogo in hit television series Game of Thrones and movie superhero Aquaman, is a massive fan of New Zealand rugby.

And de Groot was a little excited too.

"Lucky enough to bump into one of the greats and give him a jersey," de Groot wrote on Instagram.

Momoa said he was "starstruck" to meet the All Blacks.

He was a "huge" All Blacks fan, he wrote on Instagram.

"I'm still smiling. I'm so very thankful to have met you all. Mahalo for the signed jerseys ... and amazing memories.

"Mahalo to my favourite team in the world."

Momoa is in New Zealand to film his new Apple TV+ series Chief of War, which he is starring in, writing and executive producing.
