Rugby: O'Connor, Beale back for Rebels

Both of the Rebels' big signings will take the field against the Highlanders in Invercargill tomorrow night.

James O'Connor has recovered from a hamstring strain and will start at first five-eighth for the fledging franchise, while Kurtley Beale has shaken off a calf strain and will take his place at fullback.

O'Connor was a late withdrawal from the side last week and his replacement, Danny Cipriani, was the victim of a hamstring strain and was forced off the field last week.

Beale has been bothered by a calf complaint and did not play last week against the Force.

The Rebels posted their first win of the season, beating the Force 30-29, ending a run of 12 losses stretching back to last year.

Loose forward Tom Chamberlain will get a run on the same ground where he played provincial rugby last year for Southland.

Hooker Adam Freier gets another run ahead of Ged Robinson, who is in the reserves.

The Highlanders will name their team this morning.

Adam Thomson and Jarrad Hoeata are expected to be selected in the forward pack.

In the only previous meeting between the sides, the Highlanders had an easy 40-18 win over the Rebels, in Melbourne last yearThe Rebels were expected to arrive in Invercargill last night and the Highlanders will travel south this afternoon.
