The Southern region rugby competition heads into the last week of round robin action with plenty to play for still.
West Taieri holds a slim one-point lead in the competition, and just needs a bonus point win in its match against Clutha this weekend to seal first place and lock in the Springbok Horns. The Pigs have players returning and have named a very strong side.
Clutha has locked in a semifinal already and can jump into third spot if it takes two points out of this match.
Heriot is sitting one point behind West Taieri and is waiting for the Pigs to slip up. Heriot hosts Clutha Valley this weekend and is a firm favourite to take a bonus point win. Heriot stalwart Blair Young is playing his 300th match for his side this weekend, so expect his side to lift a leg for him.
The Bill Mitchell Memorial is on the line as Clinton hosts Owaka. Clinton is sitting in ninth place at the moment, but could jump as high as seventh with a win. Owaka is seventh for now and could descend to as low as ninth with a loss.
Crescent and Lawrence face off for the Miners Cup at Kaitangata. Crescent has all but locked in a bottom four semifinal. Lawrence needs to win and hope other results go its way to feature next week.
