Otago Rowing Club member Bryce Abernethy has been selected in a 33-strong New Zealand squad to compete in the 2016 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Abernethy will compete in the lightweight men's quad when the event takes place from September 21-28.
Eight New Zealand crews were selected for the championships following a five-day trial at Lake Karapiro and it was the first time a lightweight men's quad had been selected.
The crews will leave for Rotterdam on August 12.
Meanwhile, John McGlashan College pupil Bradley Leydon and Columba College pupil Heidi Wright have been selected for the South Island squad for the North v South under-18 regatta at Lake Karapiro starting tomorrow. The regatta runs until Saturday.
