Williamson (24) was part of the younger brigade which beat their older rivals in the ''youth versus experience'' drivers' challenge a year ago.
Under the format, drivers up to the age of 25 are eligible to compete in the six-race series for the youth team, while members have to be 50 or older to be considered for the experienced team.
Williamson will drive in eight races today, including six for the youth team, which includes Dexter Dunn, last year's individual champion (47 points).
''With top dogs like Dexter Dunn, we will be hard to beat,'' Williamson, of Oamaru, said.
''As far as our team goes, we should be looking all right, I would say.
''We're a pretty confident team. Any time you beat those older fellas they don't like it, so hopefully we can do it again [today].''
This year's youth team is ''pretty similar'' to the line-up which triumphed last year.
Dunn (25) is eligible to compete for the youth team as the defending champion.
A year after finishing fourth-equal with Amanda Turnbull on 38 points, Williamson will drive Justoclassie in the first of six races in the series.
Trained by Peter Bagrie, the Canterbury horse is Williamson's best chance, he said.
''It's not a very strong field and Bagrie is a good trainer, so it should be hard to beat, touch wood.''
Smoken Roman and Scotlynn Justis, who Williamson will drive in races 7 and 8 respectively, are also a good chance.
''Smoken Roman went no good in Oamaru the other day. Before that his form had been real good but he had been unlucky.
''He was real stiff at the Waikouaiti Cup, so if he goes as good as he did at the Waikouaiti Cup he would win. But I just have to catch him on the right day.''
Scotlynn Justis had been ''knocking on the door'' recently and was also due, Williamson said.
Caesar Rocks, who won in Invercargill last week also had a chance of placing.
Williamson will drive Beyond A Joke and Newmans Jet in races 1 and 2 which are not part of the drivers' challenge.
Australian Lance Justice, a record-breaking harness racing trainer and driver, again headlines the experienced team.
The challenge comprised five races last year with the youth team winning 218-181.
The individual winner will walk away with $2000.
